Causes of oil leakage of automobile steering gear (also known as steering gear)

1. Causes of oil leakage of automobile steering gear

(1) The two bottom holes of the worm gear box of the steering gear are unblocked with the box, and the screw hole leaks oil. Because the screw hole of the original machine is drilled through, or the screw hole is jacked through or cracked with a long screw during warranty, the lubricating oil in the box penetrates outward along the thread.

(2) Most of the leakage of the bottom cover is due to casting, which makes the cover plane uneven or the conduit hole is not vertical to the two planes, resulting in loose riveting or pipe deflection.

(3) The leakage of gasket is often caused by the use of yellow board paper. Yellow board paper has strong oil adsorption and uneven bolt torque makes the side cover and bottom cover deform. If the number of gaskets is not adjusted properly, leakage will occur.

(4) Oil leakage at the oil seal is generally due to the poor quality of the oil seal, or the outer diameter of the oil seal is loose with the seat hole, and the concentricity of the steering arm bearing hole and the oil seal bearing seat hole of the steering worm box is out of tolerance, and the oil seal is leaking at the oil seal of the steering arm shaft. Or because the steering arm shaft is loose, the shaft diameter is out of roundness, taper and leakage.

(5) The leakage of other parts of the steering gear is due to shell cracks, sand holes, air holes or loose metal on the side of screw holes, which is the defect of accessories.

2. Oil leakage treatment of automobile steering gear

(1) In view of the leakage of the screw hole, fiber thread or gasket should be added at the root of the bolt to seal.

(2) If the bottom cover leaks oil, it is necessary to re process the plane and hole or match the pipe.

(3) If the gasket part leaks, the gasket should be replaced with the impregnated liner board.

(4) The oil leakage at the oil seal should be solved by renewing the oil seal, renewing the bearing, grinding the shaft diameter or renewing the shell.

(5) If there is any condition, it can be repaired. If there is no condition, the accessories should be replaced.

In fact, in view of the oil leakage of the steering gear, it is recommended to replace the steering gear when going to the 4S shop. Because the 4S shop or the repair shop usually do not carry out detail maintenance, so replacing the steering gear is the best way.
